Case summary-The remarkable journey of 18-year-old "Artyom," a young boy from Turkmenistan

Problem

18-year-old "Artyom, Diagnosed to have Post-Covid vaccination "Neurological AE" initially, little did the parents know that their young boy was infact suffering from a rare liver illness "Wilson’s disease". 

Pre-Surgery

From Iran to India, where transplant was refused ( in view of severity of his neurological symptoms) after making correct diagnosis, his journey was not less than a roller coaster.

From being restrained to bed, multiple involuntary movements , drooling of saliva , slurring of speech and bed wetting , he faced it all.

Parents had sleepless nights, holding his limbs and calming him to control his cry and screams.

Things didn’t end here when his father (Liver Donor ) became covid positive one day prior to transplant.

Ten days later and one day prior to transplant Artyom turned out to be Covid positive.

Six months - Post-Surgery

Six months down the line, he is here today for a follow-up, waking normally, shaking hands, and thanking the entire liver team.
